These Pumpkin Spice Cheerios Treats are the perfect way to celebrate the Halloween season or just October in general! Make these for parties, Halloween gatherings or the kids to snack on or – better yet – let them help you make them!
If you are a pumpkin spice lover like me, you have no doubt already grabbed a box of Pumpkin Spice Cheerios off the store shelves. After thinking a bit, I decided they would be delicious in a bar similar to Rice Krispie Treats (and much more exciting than in a bowl with milk), so I whipped up a batch of Pumpkin Spice Cheerios Treats and drizzled some chocolate on top! You’re going to love them!
Ingredients:
8 cups Pumpkin Spice Cheerios
10 oz bag mini marshmallows
1/4 cup butter
1/3 cup dark chocolate chips
Grease an 8×8 square or round pan well with Pam or butter and set aside. In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the butter and marshmallows. Stir frequently until they’re melted and thoroughly mixed together. Remove from heat, pour in your Pumpkin Spice Cheerios and stir well.
Dump the entire mixture into your prepared pan and allow it to cool just enough to make touching comfortable (you don’t want to burn yourself!). Press the mixture firmly into the pan using buttered hands or the backside of a clean pan to press very firmly. Allow to cool completely (at least an hour) until set.
In a double boiler, heat your chocolate chips until melted. (Alternatively, melt them in a microwave in 30 second increments, stirring in between.) Dip a fork in the melted chocolate and drizzle back and forth over the Cheerios treats. Allow your chocolate to set and then cut into slices and serve! If you want to get even more creative, use white or milk chocolate in place of dark, sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on the still wet chocolate, add crushed pecans to mixture or sprinkle on top!
