One of the questions that I’m asked periodically is whether it’s acceptable to make copies of coupons. Unfortunately, you cannot make copies of coupons. I understand the desire to have additional savings, but making photocopies of coupons actually constitutes coupon fraud and it is illegal.
The best way to think about this is that the manufacturer has allotted a specific amount of money that they are willing to contribute to customers in the form of coupons. They provide these as an incentive for you to purchase their product and hopefully continue to buy it in the future. When you copy a coupon, you’re taking additional funds from the brand that they haven’t agreed to. That is theft and it is punishable by law. Coupon fraud brings a sentence of up to 17 years in prison and/or several hundreds of thousands of dollars in penalties. Bottom line – just don’t do it.
That said, I understand that savings is important, so you can read more about where to find additional coupons here! Find more Couponing Tips here.
