Quick Walgreens Moneymaking Shop

by Alli on July 20, 2010

I posted in the Walgreens deals that the Dr Scholl’s would be a moneymaker this week, but I haven’t been able to get there myself until today. Here’s a quick shop that should work for all of you and is SUPER easy:

Buy 2 Dr Scholl’s Hidden Arch Supports $7.79 each
Buy 1 Colgate Total Toothpaste $3.49
Use 2 $2 from 5/2 SS, here or here
Use $1 from 7/11 SS or $.75 here
Use $5 Dr Scholl’s from July Coupon Booklet (will take off $10)
Pay $4.07 plus tax, Get $8.50 CAT ($3.50 Colgate, $5 Dr Scholl’s)
Final Price: $4.43 Moneymaker!

Things tend to be priced higher in Chicago, so it is very possible that the Dr Scholl’s will be cheaper in your area since these aren’t on sale and based on the shelf price. Here’s hoping!

My Fun Dominick’s Shop Today

by Alli on July 19, 2010

If only all shopping trips could be like this! I know they can’t, since companies would likely go out of business, but a girl can dream!

I went to Dominick’s to try out all of the awesomeness that I posted about yesterday and it worked fantastically! In fact, it worked a little too well. I ended up with a lot more in overage than I had planned on, so I grabbed 4 candy bars (B2G2) and a can of tuna just to cover myself. I know – everyone should have my problems! ;)

Here’s what I did:

1 Cheerios $.99 w/Instant Savings ($.1.10 in e-coupons came off and I used $.55 from Coupons.com)
1 Cocoa Puffs $.99 w/Instant Savings ($1.10 in e-coupons came off and I used $1/2 coupon from Coupons.com w/GG below)
1 Golden Grahams $.99 w/Instant Savings ($1.50 in e-coupons came off)
1 Nature Valley Nut Clusters $0 (!?!?) ($4.40 in e-coupons came off and I used $1 from Coupons.com)
1 Nature Valley Granola Bars $0 w/purchase of 4 above ($1.50 in e-coupons came off)
1 Betty Crocker Warm Delights $1.64 ($2.75 in e-coupons came off and I used $.75 from 6/27 SS)
1 Yoplait Delights $2.79 ($2 in e-coupons came off and I used $.50 from 6/20 SS)
2 Slimfast Bars $2 (Used 2 $1 from 4/11 RP)
4 Vaseline Sheer Infusion $11.96 (Used 2 $3.75 from 4/11 RP and 2 $2 from 5/23 RP)
1 Pace Salsa $3.79 (Used expired $4 Pace sweepstakes coupon – reduced to $3.79)
2 Hershey’s Dark Singles $1.98
2 Reese’s Cups Singles $0
1 Starkist Tuna $1
1 Milk Gallon $2.99
1 Brownberry Bread $2.19
1 Safeway Select OJ $2.49

Final Price: $1.91 ($1.85 was tax!)

I have NO idea why the Nut Clusters were free, but I didn’t notice it until I sat down to look at what I’d miscalculated. If I’d known about the extra overage I’d have gotten an extra loaf of bread or another gallon of milk, but hopefully the same situation will happen for you and you will be able to pick up some useful fillers! My location had a TON of Vaseline, so I’ll definitely be going back to get more of that. It’s really great lotion!

Also, I tried to get another 4 boxes of cereal in a separate transaction, but they all rang up as $1.99 each after discount. I’m not sure why, but if you try it, be prepared for this issue to pop up for you as well. I might try it again later this week just in case it was a fluke. You can’t beat $.50 cereal – well, unless it’s free!

With all of the great deals at Walgreens, I wanted to make sure that I got out early in the week. And since so many new deals popped up this morning in, I wanted to see if they worked. I don’t want you to waste a trip for nothing!

A few things I noticed:

1. The Nivea Active 3 did not ring up B1G1 for me. I had heard that Nivea Active Sport was not working for the B1G1, but the regular Active didn’t either. This may have ended yesterday.

2. The Neutrogena Age Shield Face Sunblock was not at clearance at my store. This may vary by store, so be sure to ask for a price check before assuming it’s on clearance.

3. The Neutrogena Lip Care SPF 15 is not a part of the 25% off sale. It does qualify for the $10 RR deal, but it’ll cost you a bit more than you were planning. Buying 3 for $2.99 will still get you 3 for free, though!

4. There were $1 peelies on the Reach Multi-Action Toothbrushes. So even if you are starting with no coupons and can find the peelies, use the $3 in-ad coupon and one of the these to pay around $1 per toothbrush (depending on prices at your store).

4. Check the Pepsi product 12 pks at your store. Tons of the 12 pks at my store had $1/2 peelies on them. The deal is Buy 3/$11, Get $3 RR right now, so with the coupon you’re final price after RR would be 3/$7. Not bad!

Here’s the transaction I did:

1 Nivea Active 3 Body Wash $5.99 (I used $3 from 5/2 RP)
2 Reach Multi-Action Toothbrushes $9.98 (Used B1G1 from 5/16 RP, $1 from 3/7 RP, and $3 in-ad coupon with took off $6)
2 Neutrogena Lip Care SPF 15 $5.98 (Used 2 $1.50 from Safeway May Coupon Booklet)
1 Neutrogena Face Wash $2.39 (Used $1 from 6/13 SS)

Final Price: $7.23
I got back $16 RR ($10 Neutrogena, $6 Nivea)
Total Cost: I made $8.77

This was a super easy shop to do if you have all of the coupons. Nothing beeped, no issues. Just make sure to hand over your Reach in-ad coupon AFTER your manufacturer’s coupons and you should be good to go.

Happy Shopping!

My CVS Shop Today

by Alli on May 8, 2010

CVS is looking so hot this upcoming week that I wanted to make sure that I got there early. There’s been conversation taking place on the Couponing For 4 Facebook page about how various CVS locations actually start their new sales on Saturday. It is NOT every location, so you will have to check with yours.

One thing to be aware of this week – when I bought the Breeze 2 Meter, I only got $5 ECB back. My wonderful cashier manually printed the other $10, but please make sure that your full $15 ECB prints out. This may be corrected by tomorrow.

Here’s what I did:

Transaction #1

Breeze 2 Meter $19.99 (Used $10 from 4/25 RP)
(I also used $9 ECB)

Final Price: $1.44
I got back $15 ECB
Total Cost: I made $4.56

Transaction #2

2 Pantene Shampoo $6.97 (Used 2 $2 from Vocalpoint mailer)
1 Carefree Pantiliners $1 (Used $1 from 4/25 SS)
1 Always Pantiliners $1 (Used $1 from 5/2 P&G)
2 Bayer Low Dose $2 (Used 2 $1 from 3/21 SS)
2 Right Guard Deodorant $5.98 (Used $3/2 from Coupons.com)
1 Crest Pro-Health $3.50 (Used $.75 from 5/2 P&G)
1 U By Kotex $4.99 (Used $1 printable (reset!) AND $1 from CVS)
2 Nivea Trial Sized Body Wash $2
(I also used $13.50 ECB)

Final Price: $1.51
I got back $15.98 ECB ($3 Pantene, $4 Right Guard, $3.99 Crest, $4.99 Kotex)
I also completely forgot to use my $2/2 ANY Body Wash coupon that printed from the machine (thus the two trial sized Nivea), so my very nice cashier refunded me the cash.
Total Cost: I made $2.97

I am going to go back later this week to pick up a few more of the $1 freebies to donate, but I wanted to knock all of the moneymakers out of the park today.

THIS reminds me why I love CVS so much! Walgreens has some great deals and I enjoy shopping there, but CVS is SO much easier when it comes to coupons.

I listed the greeting card awesomeness with the weekly deals, but I thought that it actually deserved it’s own post.

Dominick’s has many greeting cards priced at $1.99 (birthday, Mother’s Day, graduation, kids cards, etc). The are also offering a $5 CAT wyb 3 (this is a store coupon, not a manufacturer’s – bummer!). PLUS, Amy told me about a new Libby B promotion that is sitting right in the greeting card section. Use one of the Libby B coupons (from the tearpad in-store) to get any of various desk/organizational items free! Here’s how to work this deal:

Buy 3 greeting cards for $5.97
Choose your Izzy B Item (priced higher, but ringing at $2.99)
Use the $2/3 greeting cards coupon from the 4/29 Jewel ad
Pay $4.89, Get $5 CAT back
Total Cost: $.11 Moneymaker!

This is what my total was including tax. Yours may be slightly less depending on where you live. A GREAT and very easy deal! I did two transactions and got the two things you see above. One is a receipt holder (they must know me!) and the other a pen/pencil holder with little storage box. Adorable and free!!

While I was at Dominick’s I spoke with a few of the employees. I had heard that they were going to be having a major “coupon-based” meeting so that everyone was on the same page and apparently it took place in the last week. ALL of your cashiers should now know that there is one competitor manufacturer’s coupon allowed per transaction.

PLUS, you know all of those expired Store coupons that they used to refuse (from Catalina purchases, Entertainment Books, etc)? I was told that they are now accepting them! I haven’t tried this myself, but I have a few $5/$50 Entertainment coupons that I didn’t use from last year. I’m glad I couldn’t bring myself to throw them out!! If you try using an expired Store coupon, let us know how it goes!

I was reading Mashup Mom’s post about free Healthy Choice this morning and it got me thinking about what other great deals we may be missing at Dominick’s using our e-coupons. Here is her deal and a few things that I came up with and then tried at the store:

-Check your Shortcuts account to see if you have 2 $2/2 Healthy Choice coupons. Healthy Choice is on sale at Dominick’s this week for $1.99 w/Super Coupon. If you have 2 of the e-coupons you can get two free w/Super Coupon! Plus, if you use a $1/2 coupon this will be a moneymaker! (Thanks Rachel!)

-Check your Shortcuts account to see if you have 2 $2/2 Starbucks Ice Cream coupons. These are on sale for between $2.79-$2.99. Use these to get them super cheap. You could also use 2 $.75 coupons to get these almost free!

-Check your Shortcuts account to see if you have 2 $2/2 Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream coupons. These are on sale 2/$6 this week. I believe there was a $1/2 in the 6/28 RP that you can use too. Without coupon these are only $1 each and with $.50 each! A GOOD deal for Ben & Jerry’s!

-Check your Shortcuts account to see if you have 2 $.75 Hunt’s Ketchup coupons. These aren’t on sale right now, but if we see anything $1.50 or under in the next few weeks, those will get us free ketchup.

Here’s what I did when I ran to the store:

1 7-Up $.69 w/Super Coupon (Used $.55 e-coupon – Thanks Ann!)
4 Mission Tortillas $3.96 w/Super Coupon (Used 2 $.75 from 1/10 SS and 1 $1.50/2 peelie booklet in front of product)
1 Lucerne American Cheese Slices $2.49
2 Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream $6 (Used 2 $2/2 from Shortcuts)
2 Starbucks Ice Cream $6 (Used 2 $2/2 from Shortcuts and $2/2 CAT coupon)
2 Healthy Choice Meals $3.98 w/Super Coupon (Used 2 $2/2 from Shortcuts)
4 Windex $7.96 wyb 4 (Used 3 $1 coupons from Coupons.com and $4.53 came off w/Super Coupon)
-I also used $3 Jewel CAT

Final Price: $3.70
I got back $4 CAT from Windex, Plus I’ll file for $5 SC Johnson rebate (making Windex an almost $9 moneymaker!)
Total Cost: $2.70 before rebate – I’ll have made $2.70 after stamp and rebate

I totally forgot my $1/2 Healthy Choice coupon and only had 3 Windex coupons, but this wasn’t bad for hardly clipping anything!

Two notes about this shop – Use your manufacturer’s coupons first. When I tried it the other way around last week, everything beeped. This transaction went much more smoothly.

Also, look for those $1.50/2 peelie booklets in front of the Mission Tortillas! $.24 per package is a GREAT deal!

My Shops And Conagra Scenarios For Newbies

by Alli on April 26, 2010

My two little ones have ear infections, so I had to go out to CVS last night to pick up their meds. I went out alone (can you believe it??), so I also stopped at Walgreens to pick up some Motrin. It’s amazing how fast you can do transactions when it’s just you!

Here’s what I did last night:

CVS
Transaction #1

I picked up 2 prescriptions that cost $9.74 and used 2 $10 Kmart prescription coupons
Total Cost: I made $10.26

Transaction #2

1 Palmolive Dish Soap $.88 (used $.70 coupon)
2 Oral-B Toothbrushes $5.98 (used B1G1 and $2 coupons – the $2 wouldn’t scan, but she pushed it through)
2 Fig Newtons $2 (used 2 $1 Fig Newton printable coupons)
(I also used $1 ECB)

Final Price: $.83
I got back $2 ECB from Oral-B
Total Cost: I made $.17

Walgreens
Transaction #1

1 Stayfree $2.99 (used $2 coupon)
1 Plackers Picks $2 (used $.50 coupon)
3 Scotch Packing Tape $3 (used $3 Scotch printable coupons and in-ad coupon)
1 Hershey’s Special Dark $1 (used $1 coupon and in-ad coupon)
1 Skintimate $2.99 (this was my filler)
(I also used $5 Nature’s Bounty RR)

Final Price: $1.66
I got back $8 RR ($3 Stayfree, $2 Plackers, $3 Skintimate)
Total Cost: I made $1.34

Transaction #2

2 Children’s Motrin $14.98 (used $3/2 and $3 in-ad coupon)
1 Stayfree $2.99 (used $2 coupon)
1 Skintimate $2.99 (filler)
(I also used $5 Nature’s Bounty RR)

Final Price: $5.77
I got back $6 RR ($3 Stayfree, $3 Skintimate)
Total Cost: $4.77

Transaction #3 was one more Stayfree w/$2 coupon, Got $3 RR – I made $1.70

The Motrin was $7.49 at my store (not $5.99 like it quoted online), but I needed them, so this was the best deal I could come up with.

Since my kids were feeling a little better and we had no plans for the morning, we ran out to Jewel. I thought that I would try to come up with a few “no coupons” transactions for the Conagra deal. I know that many of you are new to this and don’t have as many coupons, so I wanted to find a few deals that anyone everyone could do (in addition to these). Plus, I needed tomatoes for soup! Here’s what I came up with:

4 Hunt’s Tomatoes 28 oz $6/$11
5 Healthy Choice Soup $5/$14
(I used $11 CATs)

Final Price: $.25 in tax
I got back $10 Conagra CATs
Total Cost: $1.25

If you do this transaction, make sure that your total is $25 before tax. This deal was exactly $25 before tax at my store. If you’re a penny off it won’t work.

For my second transaction I included a few other “no-coupon” options:

4 Hunt’s Tomatoes 28 oz $6/$11
4 Orville Redenbacher Popcorn $6.36/$14.36
2 Oscar Mayer Selects No Nitrate Hot Dogs $3
4 Lawry’s Marinades $4
(I used $19 CATs and RR)

Final Price: $.80
I got back $14 CATs ($10 Conagra, $1 Oscar Mayer, $3 Lawry’s)
Total Cost: $5.80

The Oscar Mayer Hot Dogs were $1.50 each (not $.99), but I think I miscalculated the original deal when I mentioned it. There was supposed to be a $1/2 peelie on some of the hot dogs, but those turned out to be for the wrong product. In my “no sleep for 3 days” haze (ear infections!), I think I may have confused the deal. Anyway, $1 each after CAT is a good deal – particularly for “healthier” hot dogs (I’m laughing just reading that!).

One more note – Some of the Orville Redenbacher 3 pks are on clearance for $1.59. You DO NOT want this variety. These will ring at $1.59 (not $3.59) and throw your total off. If you really ant any of these, buy them separately.

My Across-The-Universe Shops Today

by Alli on April 23, 2010

Today I went shopping across the universe – or at least it felt a little like it! I took the kids and some snacks to Jewel, Dominick’s, and Walgreens to do all the great deals were on my list. I did the Scrubbing Bubbles deal at Dominick’s already, and while I thought about doing it again, I never bothered to print out more coupons and didn’t have time to do it this morning.

I stopped at Walgreens first:
Transaction #1

2 Huggies Pull-Ups $17.98 (I used 2 $2 coupons and 1 $2 Walgreens coupon – took off $4)
1 U By Kotex $3.49 (I used 1 $1 coupon)
2 Royal Pudding $.39 each (fillers)
(I also used 2 $5 RR from previous transactions)

Final Price:$5.47 ($2.20 was tax)
I got back $2.50 RR from Kotex
Total Cost: $12.97

Transaction #2

1 U By Kotex

Final Price: $2.85
I got back $2.50 RR from Kotex
Total Cost $.35

My total Walgreens trip cost me $13.32, but we needed Pull-Ups and this was a good deal with little OOP costs.

Then we ran over to Dominick’s. I knew that I had some old e-coupons from Cellfire and Shortcuts loaded up for the Betty Crocker Potatoes and Hamburger Helpers ($.99 each wyb 4 Mix & Match), so I figured this would be a great time to get a little overage towards the rest of my purchase (we needed Brussel Sprouts!).

1 Betty Crocker Sweet Potatoes $.99 (I used 1 $.35 coupon and got $1.20 off from e-coupons – I made $.56)
3 Hamburger Helpers $.2.97 (I used 1 $.75/3 and got $2.25 off from e-coupons – making these free)
2 Green Giant Brussel Sprouts $3.34 (I used 2 $.50 printable coupons)
4 Multi-Surface Windex $7.96 (I used 4 $1 coupons and got $1 off from e-Coupons.com)

Final Price: $5.69
I got back $4 CAT from Windex AND I’m going to file for the $5 SC Johnson rebate
Total Cost: $1.69, but I will have made $3.31 after rebate

The Windex deal worked beautifully and the local shelter will love the Hamburger Helpers. I was going to throw in a few freebie coupons, but I wanted to go through Self-Check, so I didn’t bother.

Last, we went to Jewel. There wasn’t a ton that we needed from the Conagra deal, but I always use this opportunity to stock up on popcorn. I have never done the Healthy Choice soup deal before because almost nothing can beat the soups I make from Make It Fast, Cook It Slow (Stephanie’s talent, not mine!), but Healthy Choice has a new flavor – Tomato Basil. That’s one of the few soups that I’d rather buy. I can’t see any point in making it – particularly when you can get it for free!

Transaction #1

7 Orville Redenbacher Varieties $11.13 (I used 3 $.40 coupons and 3 $.75 coupons)
3 Lunchables Subs $2.97
3 Ronzoni $3.87 (I used 3 $.75 printable coupons)
4 Lawry’s Marinates $4 (I used 3 $.50 coupons)
1 Brownberry Wheat Bread $2.19
1 Tully’s Coffee on clearance for $4.99
(I also used $21 in Register Rewards and Dominick’s CATs)

Final Price: $.94
I got back $15 CATs ($10 Conagra, $3 Lunchables, $2 Lawry’s)
Total Cost: $6.94

Transaction #2

9 Healthy Choice Soup $9
1 Lunchables Sub $.99
(I used $9 CATs from previous transaction)

Final Price: $1.21
I got back $11 CATs ($10 Conagra, $1 Lunchables)
Total Cost: I made $.79

When you add up all of my shops: I spent $16.16 out of pocket, I saved $133.56 (89% savings), and I still have a slew of CATs and Register Rewards. I will also get that $5 rebate. Not too bad! Not I’ll have to go back and get some more soup.
