Have you heard of Zelfs? I hadn’t until recently, but when I saw them, they resembled toys that I used to collect in high-school and college! Zelfs look a little like the old Trolls, but they are different. Their ears are longer like a fairy’s, but tipped downward, their eyes are darker and their legs and arms are moveable.
Zelfs come in three sizes, so you have your choice:
- Small Zelfs – “When the sun goes away, these tiny Zelfs are ready to come out and play! Each quirky small Zelf has a matte, glitter or pearl finish. Each lil’ Zelf can be displayed in the planter or used as a pencil topper to show off their crazy colorful hair. Each doll comes with a collectors guide so girls can keep track of their Zelfs collection. With 36 to collect in all, girls will have a hair-raising good time with the Zelfs! Available at major toy retailers nationwide.”
- Medium Zelfs – “Straight from the garden of Zardenia, each Medium Zelf comes with a charm, hairstyle accessories and comb, so girls can keep those wayward locks in line. With 12 medium Zelfs to collect, plus the ultra-rare Clover Zelf (Miss Clover), girls can use the included collectors guide to keep track of their collections. Available at major toy retailers nationwide.”
- Large Zelfs – “The Zelfs can’t wait to come out of their garden and play! Available in three different finishes to collect, including glow-in-the-dark, glitter and pearl, each Large Zelf comes with a hair brush, two hair clip extensions, three hair ties and a collectors guide so girls can learn more about each Zelf’s personality (there are six to collect in all!). Available at major toy retailers nationwide.”
My daughter loved these! She is big on playing with dolls, fixing their hair and dressing them up, but I wasn’t sure how she would take to the Zelfs. She opened them all at the same time and declared that the “baby” was so pretty because it was shiny (it has a pearl finish) and the “big sister” was beautiful because of her wings and colors. We then proceeded to play her favorite game “babies and mommies” where she played the mommy with the Large Zelf and the two “sisters” had to have their hair done. The little clips and rubber bands were perfect for styling the Zelf’s hair and they stayed fairly well. I found that the clips couldn’t hold too much hair and stay closed, but they do serve their purpose decoration-wise. My daughter’s Zelfs have since moved into her dollhouse, so I am kind of a fan of the multi-cultural feel that the “doll neighborhood” is picking up. That’s how it should be!
