I have been asked a lot lately what the stock up prices for different items should be, so I thought I’d start a new series letting you know about various items! Let’s start with toothpaste.
What is the stock up price for toothpaste? First and foremost, it’s important to realize that this answer will be different for people who have been couponing for awhile and have a stockpile, and those who are just starting. For those of you who are just starting to coupon and have less than one or two months worth of toothpaste in the house, don’t pay more than $1 for a tube of toothpaste. You should be able to get Colgate, Crest or some other brand for $1 or less almost every single week at CVS or Walgreens. Buy two or three tubes at this price and then proceed to collect those coupons!! The $3 investment will put you in a position where you can wait a few weeks until you see toothpaste selling for less. When you do, use that deal to build your stockpile.
That leads us to those of us who have a stockpile and have been couponing for awhile. I have a stockpile of toothpaste that will last us at least nine months. That being the case, I won’t pay more than $.25 per tube of toothpaste and that quarter expense is usually only when I need to burn some Register Rewards or Extra Care Bucks. If I don’t have any strategic reason to purchase, I will only buy toothpaste when I can get it for free or as a moneymaker. Why you ask?? Because we don’t need to!
Every month (for the most part) both Colgate and Crest release coupons in our inserts or online. If we get a $1 or $.75 Colgate coupon, we know the likelihood of free toothpaste is high. If it’s not free, it’s going to be $.25 at the most. Assess what is best for your family, but once you build that stockpile, don’t pay more than you need to! And as far as toothpaste is concerned, unless your stockpile is dwindling, your stock up price should be zip, zilch, nada and nothing. Your stock up price should be FREE!
