If you were one of the many who purchased a Weekly Cinema Groupon or subscribed to Weekly Cinema monthly, I have some bad news. A few days ago, Weekly Cinema posted this on their website:
The future of Weekly Cinema is under review. While this review is being performed, we are not able to process or redeem movie ticket coupons. We are working with our deal site partners to achieve a refund for the unused movie tickets and promo codes in your Weekly Cinema account in an amount not to exceed the price you paid for each of the unused movie ticket coupons.
Hopefully by now you have gotten a notice from Groupon (if not, contact them at (877) 788-7858). I got an email on Friday telling me that Groupon would be issuing me a credit in the amount of my Weekly Cinema purchase. This is a very generous offer, since it is not really Groupon’s responsibility to make good on the price of the tickets. As far as I’m concerned, Groupon just got bumped up a notch in the reputation and customer service department. It’s so nice to see a company really come through for it’s customers.
