I suppose we knew that it was coming! Walgreens has officially changed their coupon policy – and not for the better. If you were frustrated before, you’re not going to be pleased. You can read the entire policy here, but here are some of the highlights:
- Walgreens will not accept coupons that exceed the selling price of an item and no cash back is ever provided in exchange for any coupons. – Remember those free Wet ‘N Wild nail polish deals that we could do with the $1 coupon that comes out every few months? Yeah, those days are over. Walgreens will no longer adjust down your coupons.
- For offers when multiple items are purchased and additional items are free (buy 1 get 1 free; buy 2 get 1 free, etc.), the number of coupons applied to that offer cannot exceed the number of items required in the “buy” portion of the offer. This means that you can no longer use two coupons on a B1G1 sale. This will impact our deals on vitamins as well as many, many other deals. (CVS DOES accept two coupons on a B1G1 sale)
- When items are featured in a Buy 1 Get 1 Free promotion, at least one product needs to be purchased. A maximum of one BOGO coupon is permitted per two qualifying items in a BOGO offer. This means that you can no longer use a B1G1 coupon on a B1G1 sale and get two for free. You will have to purchase four items in order to use a B1G1 coupon on a B1G1 sale. (Making three free and paying for one)
Everything else that I see is pretty standard, but these are big enough. What do you think? How will this impact how you shop at Walgreens?
