Oh, Walgreens…. why can’t you ever be easy?? I went to Walgreens to do my weekly shop and use my Happy Cash this morning. I did the Coca-Cola/Nabisco deal where I purchased $15 in products and should have gotten 3,000. At the end of the transaction my points did not show up. I politely asked the cashier who explained to me that it was because I had used coupons. I politely explained back that – it wasn’t. The manager was called and after about 10 minutes of waiting with my 5-year old, the manager added the 3,000 points to my account and declared that the $5/$30 Happy Cash had affected the price of each item rather than taking $5 off the whole order, so I technically hadn’t met the threshold according to the register.
Walgreens, I implore you – we appreciate the bonus savings even if we have to spend $30, but you need to think about the hassle you’re creating for your customers AND employees! If you want us to keep shopping your deals, COME ON.
The moral of this story: Be sure to check your receipt each and every time you do a deal at Walgreens. At the beginning of each new week, all of us are learning together – including the Walgreens employees.
