Ah, cigarettes. A subject with many opinions. I have never been one to pass judgement on anyone for anything they do with the right intentions (I’m obviously not a fan of criminals), but it seems that smoking has become a hot button issue these days. In my opinion, your business is your business. That being said, if something is harming you, I think a gentle suggestion from a family member or friend can be a good thing.
I have had one family member pass away from smoking-related lung cancer. I also have another family member who smokes two packs per day and really doesn’t have the money to be investing in it. That is where my concerns lie. If doing anything (smoking or anything else) is hindering your ability to pay rent or live a normal life, my hope is that you find a hobby to replace it with.
They say that quitting smoking is one of the toughest habits to break because it’s not only chemical, but it’s habitual. Just as a chef loves the process of getting the pots, pans and food ready, a smoker enjoys the process of hitting the pack, taking out the cigarette and grabbing the lighter. I get it! I have a lot of processes that I enjoy in that way, although I’ve never been a smoker.
If you have been thinking about quitting smoking, there is a new program that you will want to know about. The Blueprint to Quit program is hosted through Walmart.com and done in partnership with Nicrette and Nicoderm. Here is a little about how and why the program will hopefully work for you:
- Since 85% of quit attempts are done without any support, the average quitter is only successful after their 7th try. The Blueprint to Quit program is made to provide tools so that you can quit smoking without having to have as many attempts and it gives you the support you need to do so in a successful way.
- Join QuitNet: QuitNet is a behavioral support community that you can join on its own or bundle with 14 different Nicorette or Nicoderm products. On the site, readers can get a $10 mail-in rebate for an online membership to QuitNet (a $39.99 value).
- Get Educated by Experts: Watch videos of quit smoking experts and addiction specialists share their advice and tips about quitting smoking successfully.
- Buy Now & Replenish: Purchase and replenish conveniently online
Whether you think you or a family member is ready to quit, I encourage you to take a look at the program. For both health and financial reasons, it is always good to have more information and it may just be the solution you’ve been looking for. Here is a video taken on the street of real smokers talking about their experiences.
To get everyone excited about the new Blueprint to Quit program, I am giving 10 lucky winners a QuitNet card valued at $39.99!
