A few weeks ago I had a giveaway for a copy of The Last Airbender movie. I hadn’t watched it at that point, but my son was obsessed with the animated version and couldn’t wait until we could see the live-action movie. Well, we just got that chance!
The Last Airbender is an enjoyable ride whether you’ve seen the animated version or not. My son spent the first ten minutes telling me who all of the characters were based on his memory, but the film does a pretty good job of introducing them to newbies as well. You are then taken on an adventure where you get to watch the characters bend air, fire, and water. I have to tell you that that was the part I had been waiting to see. It’s fairly easy to make an animated character bend water, but a real person? That was pretty cool.
I also loved that Dev Patel was in the film. Most of the stars are fairly unknown (they’re child actors), so it was nice to see a face that I recognized. And after watching him in Slumdog Millionaire, I never would have believed that he could play the bad guy, but he definitely had me convinced!
If you’d like to pick up a copy of The Last Airbender for yourself or someone on your Christmas list, you can get the DVD on Amazon for only $13.99 and the Blu-Ray Combo for only $22.99. Happy Holidays!
