The Hobbit!! Such an amazing book. My husband is a huge JRR Tolkien fan and had very high expectations for the movie when it came out. I tried to calm him by reminding him that Peter Jackson is not only the director, but a Tolkien junkie. When we finally saw the first movie poster, he was convinced. The “X” painted on the door sold him.
While there were some parts of the movie that I questioned (they drew out a bunch of things that were only a sentence or two in the book!), the scene between Gollum and Bilbo was golden. It was beautiful and it contained the exact amount of tension, silence and mood that it should have. That scene sold me!
