Amazon is running a special right now where if you purchase any DVD or Blu-ray (sold by Amazon and not a third party) you get a $5 credit towards select TV shows through Amazon Video On Demand. You can read the complete list of eligible television shows here, but most range from $1.99-$2.99, so this would buy you two free shows.
Here are some great DVD deals I’ve found to go along with this:
Say Anything 20th Anniversary [Blu-ray] which is only $19.49 (down from 34.99). This includes several featurettes, deleted scenes, and an intro and commentary with Cameron Crowe, Ione Skye, and John Cusack among other things. I can’t believe it’s been 20 years! I now feel very old, but I will totally have to buy this.
Star Trek (Three-Disc +Digital Copy) [Blu-ray] which is only $19.99 (down from $39.99) and will be released 11/17. This set includes lots of “making of” information, deleted scenes, a commentary, and a gag reel among other things.
Monsters, Inc. (4-Disc Edition) [Blu-ray] which is $21.49 (down from $40.99) and has a ton of extras. There is a commentary, never before seen bonus features (?), and a filmaker’s round table among other things.
I completely forgot how much I liked Say Anything until I started reading the DVD description. I had such a crush on Lloyd Dobler. Not John Cusack, Lloyd Dobler.
