PopCap Games has come out with two really fun family games – Bejeweled 3 and BookWorm.
If you’ve never heard of BookWorm, this is a game that is kind of like Scrabble. A bunch of letters get thrown together and you have to create words out of the jumble. Each time you make a word you earn points. This is a great way to encourage spelling and family time together! I tried to do it by myself and found that, although I’m a writer by day, I am NOT good at finding words in a mess of letters! Of course, if you have a 6-year old handy, they seem to solve all the problems. My son had a far better handle on it than I did!
Bejeweled 3 I probably don’t have to tell you about, but I will anyway. Bejeweled 3 is all about matching jewels into sets of three or four so that you can earn points. When you earn enough points you move on to the next level. I’ve always loved the Bejeweled games and I know I’m not alone. I tried out this game twice and made it to level two while playing casually. My son begged me for a turn, so I turned the game over to him. He screamed and yelled and jumped for joy through each level and made it to level four with no problem. That being the case, I thought that it would be best if he gave his impressions. Here is what he says:
“I think the game is fun for 6-year olds to play and 5-year olds. Adults can play it too, but if you want to go to level four you have to ask someone who is 5 or 6.”
So there you go!
