Remember when you were little and you visited a friend or family member’s house, they always had a “thing.” Like “the uncle who has the funny looking plants” or “the guy who has all the fish” or “the grandma who always has green apples.” Well, my husband and I are “the aunt and uncle with the snacks.” My nieces and nephew arrive at our house and go running (with my kids) to the back porch where our food stockpile is – and usually they go to town. There are limits of course, but we always have snacks. Always. So when Pepperidge Farm asked if I wanted to review their line of Spring Snacks & Sweets, I was all in!
Luckily for me, the package arrived when I was home working – and all alone. It occurred to me that I should really sample everything before everyone got out of work and school, but I like to pretend that I am a professional, so I waited. After school, I introduced the enticing package to my kids and told them that they had to wait for daddy to get home. Then I made grilled cheese – and declared that it was for dessert. Dinner was all Pepperidge Farm, so have fun. We don’t do this very often, but life should be fun! You’ve got to dance in the rain sometimes!
The majority of our dinner consisted of Milano cookies, Chessmen cookies, Chocolate Brownie cookies, Blueberry Cobbler cookies, Goldfish Grahams, Baked Goldfish Colors and Blueberry Swirl Bread. Let me tell you, as dinners go, that was a delicious meal!
Goldfish Colors are a staple in our home, so those actually went with the grilled cheese for dessert. My kids love Goldfish and because they’re baked and a better choice than many that my kids ask for, I’m happy to always have them around. We were also introduced to the Golfish Grahams at Costco where they are a part of a small bag multi-pack box. They were sampling them about a month ago and we ended up taking a box home. My kids are huge fans of those as well.
The Chessmen, Chocolate Brownie, Blueberry Bread and Blueberry Cobbler cookies were all new to us. My husband and children couldn’t get enough of the Chocolate Brownie. It’s extremely chocolaty and chewy, just like a brownie should be. I liked it as well, but I think I would need an entire glass of milk with half of one of those large cookies. It’s REALLY chocolatey!
The Blueberry Cobbler cookies and Blueberry Bread I liked a lot, as did my daughter. The Cobbler is also a large soft cookie, but it has bits of berry throughout. The cookie tastes and thoroughly smells like berries. The bread is similar, but it also contains swirls of blueberry and isn’t quite as sweet. My daughter and I are berry-aholics, so if you’re like us, you’re going to enjoy these items. My son and husband weren’t as into the Cobbler cookies or the bread – they liked the Chessmen. The Chessmen are delicious butter cookies with chess pieces displayed on each. They are simple and would be the perfect addition to coffee or tea and a good book.
Last, we had the Milanos. Oh, Milanos, how I love thee. There were two small packages of three cookies in each. This is the PERFECT way to keep yourself from eating five or six while reading or working. Three is enough for any snack or dessert. Okay, one is enough for any snack or dessert, but if you’re being honest, you know you want three, so Pepperidge Farm is helping you out. They are working on your portion control for you and creating these smaller packs so that we don’t get out of control. I can’t honestly say that this was their intention, but I dug it, so I’m going with it.
All in all, we enjoyed everything. I will continue to be the “aunt with the snacks,” but I think that my nieces and nephews will be finding a little more Pepperidge Farm in the house from now on. These are great snacks!
