Despite the freezing weather, I ran out to Walgreens and Jewel tonight. My husband (who is the only one left with the flu) had asked for some Cream of Wheat, so you know I HAD to run to Walgreens first!
Things didn’t go exactly as planned because the Walgreens RR’s came out too light. I knew they wouldn’t scan at Jewel, which would mess up my CAT deals there, so I paid more in cash than I intended. This just means I’ll have to go back to Walgreens tomorrow or Saturday and do a little fancy footwork to roll my RR into new ones. That shouldn’t be too hard with all the moneymaker options!
Here’s what I did
Walgreens
Transaction #1
1 Neutrogena Men’s Wash
1 Stayfree
1 Stim-U-Dent
1 Scunci Hairbands
1 Renu Multipurpose Solution
1 Just For Men
I used
1 $2 Neutrogena coupon
1 $2 Renu coupon
1 $2 Just For Men coupon
$10 RR from previous transaction
Final Price: $14.83
Got back $33 RR ($5 Neutrogena, $2 Stayfree, $2 Stim, $2 Scunci, $10 Renu, $7 JFM, $5 Store coupon for buying $25 in products)
Total Cost: I made $8.17
Transaction #2
1 Renu Multipurpose Solution
1 Stayfree
I used
1 $2 Renu coupon
$2 RR from previous transaction (didn’t scan – entered manually)
$5 Store coupon from previous transaction (didn’t scan – entered manually)
Final Price: $4.21
I got back $12 RR ($10 Renu, $2 Stayfree)
Total Cost: I made $.79
There wasn’t enough on shelves to do the first transaction again (although I wanted to!), so I grabbed the last Renu on the shelf and did the second transaction instead. I left having made $8.96.
Then I went to Jewel. I was planning to use the RR to grab a bunch of things, but because of the scanning problem, I decided just to get the necessities and do the two GM/Pepsi deals I was planning on instead. You have to be careful not to let the cashier enter your coupons/RR/CAT’s in as “Grocery” if you are doing a CAT deal. Your CAT’s won’t print because the register will read the order as less than you actually spent, not as if you used a coupon. And since our goal with CAT deals is to meet a certain price, this is never a good thing. If they don’t scan, you are better off not using them!
Jewel

$5 CAT from previous transaction
Final Price: $2.23
I got back $5 CAT

The two GM deals I did are SUPER easy and I plan to do them again this weekend.
Here are the deals I did:
7 GM boxed Veggies are $16.31 shelf price/$7 sale price
Use as many coupons as you can (I used $1.60 worth), Get back $5 CAT
I paid $.40 + tax for 7 boxes.
4 Simply Cookies are $15.80 shelf price/$10 sale price
Use as many coupons as you can (I used $3 worth), Get back $5 CAT
I paid $2.23 for 4 packages
I bought 15 or so Simply Cookies when they were moneymakers a few months ago and I’ve used them a lot (preschool potluck, goodie bags, Halloween). I’m happy to pay $.50 each to have them around again!
This is also a fantastic time to stock up on frozen boxed veggies. There are lots of printables available to keep the cost down, they keep forever, and you can’t beat the price! Plus, the Snap Peas are awesome!
