My Wags And CVS Shops And The Progresso That Never Was

I love good deals. Today felt like it was just one great deal after another and everything worked like clockwork – except the Progresso, but I’ll get to that in a bit.

I stopped at CVS, Wags, and Jewel today. I had just bought some garlic, but couldn’t find it anywhere, so I had to stop at Jewel to get some more for dinner. And if I was going to be there, I had to take advantage of the opportunity! And before I go to Jewel, I always do my Wags run – and CVS was very close…

Here’s what I did

CVS (This stuff didn’t make it into the picture. Sorry!)

2 Glade Scented Oil Refills
2 Glade Candle Holders

I used
2 Buy Refill, Get Holder free (found a blinkie at Jewel)
2 $1.50 Refills or Holder (found inside some Glade refill holders I had – these holders contain more!)
$2 ECB
1 Scan of my CVS Bag Tag

Final Price: $.82
Got Back $4 ECB ($3 Glade, $1 Bag Tag – this was my 4th use)
Will file for $5 SC Johnson Rebate
Total Cost: I will have made $6.18 after rebate ($1.18 currently)

Walgreens
Transaction #1

3 Lubriderm Lotion
1 Herbal Essences Conditioner
1 Herbal Essences Hairspray
1 Almay Pure Effects Foundation
1 Almay Pure Effects Mascara

I used
1 Buy HE haircare, get HE styler free
1 Free HE Shampoo/Conditioner from Gorgeous Giveaway
3 $2 Lubriderm coupons
1 $1 Lubriderm from Diabetes & you (took off $3 – found it in a brochure rack by the pharmacy)
$6.50 RR from previous transaction
$6.99 came off from B1G1 Almay

Final Price: $9.43
Got $25 RR back ($10 Almay foundation, $5 Almay mascara, $2 Herbal Essences, $8 Lubriderm)
Total Cost: I made $9.07

Transaction #2

1 Almay foundation
1 Almay mascara

I used
$8 RR from previous transaction

Final Price: $3.01
Got back $15 RR ($10 foundation, $5 mascara)
Total Cost: I made $3.99

Then I went to Jewel armed with the extra $13 I had just made in RR.

11 Progresso chicken broth (sale price $1.49/shelf price $2.99)
2 loaves of bread
1 garlic
3 grapefruit

I used
7 $.50 Progresso coupons
2 $1/2 Progresso I found on the cartons
$17 RR from Wags

Final Price: $2.66
I was supposed to get $15 RR from the GM/Unilever/KC deal, but they didn’t print. I brought it to the cashier’s attention and she checked the CAT machine. She said that the green light was on, but it wasn’t working, so I should go to Customer Service.

I went to the desk and spoke with a nice employee. She rang it up at her station, but it still didn’t print. She then rang it up at a different station and nothing printed. Lots of other little things happened, but after all was said and done there were no CATs.

So I asked if I could return the soup. She very nicely returned all 11 of the soups and put $16.76 back on my credit card. She did not have to do that. She could have gotten the coupons and tried to deduct all kinds of things, but she didn’t. So, my groceries ended up costing me $2.62.

If the Customer Service employee had not been so nice, I would have kept the soup and called the Catalina company tomorrow (1-888-322-3814). The deal I did with the soup was correct. The shelf price was above $30 and these were participating products, as I checked every UPC code. This deal SHOULD work for you. There are several possibilities for why these didn’t print, but I am almost positive it was not on my end. Sometimes the CAT machines don’t print anything at all (and I did notice that not even a “10% off Fashion Bug” CAT printed from any machine while I was there) because they are offline or being reset or whatever. You have a right to check if you feel you are right. Calling Catalina takes a little time, but it may be worth it in the long run.

And for anyone who caught it, yes, I did charge $2.66 to my credit card. I charge all of my grocery/toiletry/drug store purchases regardless of cost. I have charged $.23. It’s part of how I keep track of my spending. Well, that and my Excel spreadsheets. senyumkenyit
