My Shops Today

The first day of preschool means shopping for me! We are definitely pop drinkers in this house (for better or worse), so I wanted to take advantage of the deals at both CVS and Walgreens. I also wanted to go to Jewel to do the Fav 4 and use up some of my Register Rewards. Plus, a Jewel in my neighborhood was having a “Grand Re-Opening,” so I wanted to use a few of the great coupons for this particular store that were mailed to my house.

Here’s what I did:

Walgreens

1 Diet Coke 12 pk (they had no Caffeine Free or I would have just gotten 3 of those!)
1 Coke 12 pk
1 Sprite Zero 12 pk
2 Triaminic Thin Strips

I used
1 $2 Triaminic coupon
1 $3 Triaminic Thin Strips coupon
1 $2 Triaminic from the Healthy Savings Booklet (took off $4)
$8 RR from previous transaction

Final Price: $4.56
I got back $7 RR ($5 Triaminic, $2 Coke)
Total Cost: $5.56

CVS

3 Canada Dry Ginger Ale 12 pk
1 Zantac
1 Gillette Shaving Gel
1 Bayer Meter

I used
1 $1 Zantac coupon
1 $1 Gillette coupon
1 $1 Gillette Flu Shot Booklet coupon
1 “up to $30” Bayer coupon (took off $14.99)
$18.17 ECB from previous transactions

Final Price: $3.01
I got back $16.99 ECB ($3 Canada Dry, $5 Bayer, $8.99 Zantac)
Total Cost: $4.19

Jewel

4 Perdue Chicken Tenders ($8.64 total)
1 Mushrooms
1 Tully Coffee
1 Yoplait Cup (to bump my dairy purchase over $2)
1 Nature’s Pride Bread
1 Eggs 18 ct
1 American Greeting Card
1 Bunch Bananas

I used
$4.10 came off for Fav 4
1 $2 off Dairy (mailer)
1 $2 off Produce (mailer)
1 Free American Greeting Card up to $4 (Mine was $4.49! Serves me right for thinking that a card couldn’t possibly be more than $4. They’ve gotten expensive!) (Re-Opening flyer)
$13 RR from previous transactions at Wags

Final Price: $1.76
Total Cost: $14.76

So, with all my shops today I “spent” a little more than I usually do, but I’m pretty happy with it. I only spent $9.13 OOP and got a lot of stuff that we needed. This is where doing moneymakers and banking your RR/ECB comes in handy.

The biggest thing that I’m bummed about is that I couldn’t get extra newspapers this weekend. The kids and I got the flu and were housebound, so no Dollar Tree for me. The Triaminic coupons from this weekend’s inserts are great moneymakers at Walgreens, so make sure to use them this week! We’ve seen this RR deal before, but you want to use the coupons before the Healthy Savings Booklet expires at the end of the month and you lose the great moneymaker.
