So I have a confession to make. Three years ago my husband made me promise not to buy another box of toothpaste until we only had three boxes left. This week I bought my first tube in three years! We do still have 6 boxes, but I figured I’d waited long enough AND I was itching to shop!
I decided to go to Walgreens to stock up on some Finish Detergent and I had a whole plan in place for what I was going to do. However, when I got to the store, they were totally out of the two moneymaking items I’d figured into the plan. So, I winged it! (I always want to say “wung,” don’t you?)
I started the shop with 10,000 Bonus Points left over from many many prescriptions over the last months, so I did use those in my first transaction.
Transaction #1
3 Finish Powerball $3.99 each ($11.97) (Used 3 $2.15 coupons from 6/16 SS)
Reach Toothbrush 2 pk $2.99 (Used $2 Reach coupon)
2 Butterball Turkey Bacon $2.58 (Used 2 $1 printables – no longer available)
Colgate Total Toothpaste $3 (Used $.50 from 6/16 SS because I forgot to print the $1 coupon last week! Doh!)
Used 10,000 points from my account (equal to $10)
Paid $7.76 (including tax), Got $2 RR AND $2.50 RR (Reach and Colgate)
Final Price: $13.26 (accounting for the point)
Transaction #2
2 Right Guard Xtreme B1G1 for $4.79 in Chicago (Used 2 $2 Right Guard coupons)
Reach Toothbrush $2.99 (Used $1 Reach coupon)
2 Kellogg’s Raisin Bran Crunch 2/$5 (no coupons used! But my daughter begged… and she’s really cute… and I’m a sucker :))
Used $2.50 RR from Colgate (previous transaction)
Paid $6.11 (including tax), Got $2 RR from Reach
Final Price: $4.11
So all in all, this entire shop cost me $17.37. Not the best shop of my life, but as they say, the best laid plans… You have to do what you can! When the moneymakers aren’t there, you make the most of what you have! I plan to go back and pick up a few more toothbrushes and Right Guard tomorrow as well, but my daughter was done shopping after two transactions, so we were outta there! Check the rest of the Walgreens deals to see what else you can get!
