I ran out to CVS and Walgreens bright and early today to get a jump on the only Black Friday sales for which I am willing to join the masses. Luckily for me, there was hardly anyone around except for a few friendly cashiers. The first transaction that I did at CVS was actually last night when I stopped in to pick up a prescription (and get a $10 gift card!), because I had some ECB that were going to expire and they had finally restocked the contact solution.
Here’s what I did
CVS
Transaction #1 (last night)
2 Complete Contact Solution (Happy Thanksgiving to my dad and brother!)
I used
2 $1 Complete coupons
$10.99 ECB
Final Price: $5.39
Got back $17.98 ECB
Total Cost: I made $1.60
Transaction #2
1 Herbal Essences Shampoo
1 Herbal Essences Hairspray
1 Twix King Size
1 Colgate Toothpaste
1 Just For Men
1 Vaseline Sheer Infusion
I used
$4/$20 (which printed out at the end – I’ll explain in a second)
B1G1 Herbal Essences coupon
$1 Herbal Essences coupon
$2 Just for Men coupon
$1.50 Vaseline coupon
$17.89 ECB
Final Price: $2.88 ($2.62 was tax!)
I got back $28.87 ($4 from $4/$20, $1 from Bag Tag, $4 Herbal Essences, $8.29 Just For Men, $7.99 Vaseline, $1.59 King Size, $2 Colgate)
Total Cost: I made $8.10 (plus $8.29 more for the Just For Men rebate!)
Transaction #3
1 Philips Ear Buds
1 Candy Bar
1 Degree Ultra Deodorant
I used
$1.25 Degree coupon
Used $10.83 ECB
Final Price: $1.17 ($1.12 was tax!)
Got back $11.88 ECB ($6.99 Philips, $.89 Candy, $4 Degree)
Total Cost: $.12
So, overall I made $17.87 including rebate amount. On a quick side-note, my cashier friend at CVS told me that the $4/$20 doesn’t work like the other $/$$ coupons we’ve seen (as shown above). Instead of taking the amount off of your total, you get the $4 back in ECB after the transaction. For many people I can see this being frustrating, but for us it’s awesome! For us this means that you can use the $4/$20 AND the $5/$30 at the same time! They serve two different functions, so you can double dip and make $9! I wasn’t able to do this deal (I was already at the store and I don’t have that much time), but you should!
Then I headed over to Walgreens and did one huge transaction:
1 Children’s Tylenol (for my little one getting 4 molars)
1 Desitin (ditto)
1 Johnson’s Soft Wash
2 Triaminic
1 Nivea Shaving Cream
2 Ricola
1 Right Guard Sport
1 Dove Deodorant
1 Infusium 23 Shampoo
2 Vanity Fair Plates
I used
$1 Children’s Tylenol coupon
$1 Desitin coupon (from mailer)
$1 Johnson’s Softwash coupon
$3/2 Triaminic coupon
$1 Nivea Shaving Cream coupon (from mailer)
$2 Dove Deodorant coupon
$2 Infusium coupon
B1G1 Vanity Fair coupon
$1 Tylenol coupon from Healthy Savings Booklet
$.50 Ricola coupon from Healthy Savings Booklet (took off $1)
$2 Triaminic coupon from Healthy Savings Booklet (took off $4)
$.99 Ricola in-ad coupon
$25 transferred prescription coupon I received in the mail (They send these after you’ve transferred a prescription from them to another store. You get them validated for use after you’ve transferred a prescription back)
Final Price: $7.06
Got back $27 RR ($2 Aquafresh, $4 Dove, $2.50 Right Guard, $5 Infusium, $2.50 Nivea, $6 Johnson’s, $5 Triaminic)
Total Cost: $5.06
If I hadn’t needed the Tylenol or Desitin this would have been a $5 moneymaker, but instead the overage just helped me buy the extras I needed.
