My CVS and Walgreens Shops Today

February 27, 2011 By Alli

Ever since scanning this week’s Walgreens ad, I knew that this would be an awesome week to do some stockpile shopping. That being the case, I made a point of scheduling some shopping time for myself today. Several of you have written to me about writing up some of my shops again and since it’s been awhile since I last did, this was definitely the weekend to do it.

I stopped at CVS first just to pick up a few of the freebies that they had available. I started with $4.99 in ECB that I had from previous transactions. Here’s what I did:

Transaction #1

1 Oral B CrossAction Power Toothbrush $6 (Used $3 from 2/27 P&G)
1 Crest Toothpaste w/Scope $3.29 (Used $.75 from 1/30 P&G)
I used $4.99 ECB
Final Price: $1.46
I got back $6.29 ECB ($3.29 Crest, $3 Oral B)

Transaction #2

1 Gillette Fusion Razor $9.99 (Used $4 from 1/30 P&G)
I used $6.29 ECB from last transaction ($.30 actually went towards tax. I thought my cashier would have to reduce my ECB, but for some reason it all went through. I’m not complaining!)
Final Price: $.67
I got back $4 ECB

Transaction #3

1 Revitalens Multipurpose Solution $5.99
I used $4 ECB
Final Price: $2.57
I got back $5.99 ECB

After all was said and done, I spent $4.70 in cash, spent the $4.99 ECB I started with and now have $5.99 ECB.
Total Cost: $3.70 (Almost all of which was tax. Grrr…)

I totally forgot that the Oral B and Crest have a limit of 2, so I’ll have to make sure to get back there again this week. If you go to CVS and they don’t have the product you’re looking for, always make sure to get a raincheck! CVS rainchecks never expire, so they’re great to use down the road when you have a new coupon or need a filler to roll some of your ECB.

Then I headed over to Walgreens to have some more fun. I had made some calls around my neighborhood to find a Walgreens that carried the Vicks VapoDrops boxes and only found one. It’s a nice store, but I have had issues with them not reducing coupons in the past. Because of that, I decided not to bother with trying to make the Vicks/Puffs deal into a fight and just pay the $.48 instead. I wanted to be on their good side since I knew that I would be doing four transactions.

I started out with 2 $10 Register Rewards that I had from the Neuragen Gel deal I did twice last week. I didn’t do all of the free deals available (check the full list!), but I did pick up a lot.

Transaction #1

5 Vicks VapoDrops $4.48 (Used 4 $1 from 1/30 P&G)
5 Puffs Tissue $1.79 each (Used 5 free Puffs wyb Vicks from 2/27 P&G)
2 Motrin PM $6 (Used $6/2 from 1/9 SS)
Final Price: $1.59
I got back $3 RR from Motrin

Transaction #2

2 Motrin PM (Used $6/2 from 1/9 SS)
Final Price: $.14
I got back $3 RR

Transaction #3 & #4 (they were the same)

1 Colgate Total $2.99 (Used $.75 from 2/27 SS)
1 Aquaphor Lip Repair $4.99 (Used $1 Aquaphor printable)
2 Motrin PM (Used $6/2 from 1/9 SS)
1 Baby Magic Wash $3
1 Listerine Zero $2.99 (Used $2 from 9/19 RP)
I used $10 Register Reward
Final Price: $1.72
I got back $14 RR ($3 Colgate, $4 Aquaphor, $3 Motrin, $3 Baby Magic, $1 Listerine)

After all was said and done, I spent $5.17 in cash, spent the $20 in Register Rewards that I started with and now have $34 in Register Rewards.
Total cost: I made $14 profit

If you want to grab a $10 RR to do the deal like I did, pick up one of the Applied Nutrition Anti-Aging bottles for $10 with $10 RR back. If you don’t think you’ll use it though, spend the $10 in cash instead. You still have to pay tax on any “free” items!

I have every intention of going back to both Walgreens and CVS later this week. The Walgreens I went to didn’t have the Poligrip Free (moneymaker for me and great to donate!) and I want to grab a few more boxes of toothpaste, razors and baby wash. Like I said, it’s a stockpile kinda week!
