This week I had a major challenge ahead of me: I had six Register Rewards that needed to be used today. Two of them were $.50 RR (the WORST!) and the others were $2.50. Because RR are manufacturer’s coupons, you have to purchase items that you’re not already using a coupon with. SUCH a pain! So when I saw that Hallmark Cards were giving 1,000 points when you purchased three, that was my ticket! As we all know however, shopping at Walgreens is never cut and dry. I brought my crazy-easy transaction up to the register and low and behold, the Hallmark Cards weren’t scanning. My very nice cashier had to call the manager, who spent about 10 minutes doing something as he walked back and forth through the store. They were both EXTREMELY nice and did the best they could, but I swear those Walgreens registers kill me! It’s just never easy! After 10 minutes my manager informed me that I might only get 1,000 points for purchasing six cards and using all of my RR, but I wasn’t in the mood for more discussion (now that my five minute shop was going on twenty minutes), so I just went ahead. Luckily, I got my points in the end. Here’s what I did:
Walgreens
1 Puracyn Foot Wash $9.99
2 Glad Cling Wrap 2/$4 w/in-ad coupon (Used 2 $1 Glad printables)
6 Hallmark $.99 Cards ($5.94)
Used $11 in Register Rewards from previous weeks
Paid $6.93 plus tax, Got $9.99 AND 2,000 points from Hallmark
Final Price: $5.94
CVS
2 Dawn Dish Soap $.88 each (Used 2 $.50 Dawn coupons)
2 Triaminic Day/Night 2 pks 2/$20 (Used 2 $3 from 11/3 SS (exp 11/10!)
1 Colgate Mouthwash $5.99 (Used $2 Colgate coupon)
1 CVS Acetaminophen 24 ct $4.99 (Used $4.99 coupon from Red Instant Coupon Machine)
3 Edge Shave Gel $3.49 each (Used 3 $1 from 10/13 RP)
Used $4/$10 Shave Needs from Red Instant Coupon Machine last week
Used $15.97 in ECB from previous weeks
Paid $6.25 plus tax, Got $10 ECB from Triaminic, $5 Savingstar from Triaminic, $5 ECB from Edge and $3 ECB from Colgate
Final Price: $.78 Moneymaker!
All in all my shop cost me $5.16. That is far more than I would have liked to have spent on these products (the only thing I did end up paying for was the cards), but I had to burn those Register Rewards TODAY. Plus, I’ll be able to use the Hallmark cards for various occasions. I hope this gives you some ideas!
