It is another good week for shopping! Both CVS and Walgreens have some excellent deals going on – but you’ll have to make some choices – so make the ones that work best for you and your family. I mentioned in the weekly CVS deals that you could get super cheap Kellogg’s Cereal, super cheap Pop-Tarts or a great deal on Jif – you just can’t have all three because there is a limit of one on that deal. My family is stocked on cereal (because of a deal at Jewel and the high-value coupons that just came out (Buy 5, Get Free 24 pk of water), but we ALWAYS need peanut butter and Jif is our brand of choice. It’s one of the few items that I stay brand loyal with. That being said, there are a few things to be aware of at Walgreens:
First, at my stores in Chicago, Speed Stick was on sale B1G1 for $3.69. IF your store sells Speed Stick for $2.99 or under, you can use the B1G1 from 1/19 SS to get two for free (since the coupon limit is $2.99) Even with a total of $3.69, you’re only paying $.70 for two sticks of deodorant, but make sure you’re not just buying them to get something for free because they may not be.
Second, my Walgreens store was missing a TON of the free items we were supposed to be on sale this week. They said that none of the stores in our area had them and to check back Wednesday. This is something that you may find as well, so be prepared to alter your shop from what you plan to do! That is what happened to me. I went to the store with a specific plan to use my three $6 RR from last week, but I had to alter it some. I try not to buy all the free items unless I need them (or they’re moneymakers) because our tax is so high (making it NOT free), but in this case I ended up taking home some AZO Urinary Tract Infection Tablets. A good donation item I guess! Here’s what I did:
CVS
1 Glade Customizables $5 (Used $3 from 1/12 SS)
2 Jergens Lotions 3 oz $2.57 each (slightly higher priced than what many of you may see)
5 Jif Peanut Butter 2/$5
1 Colgate Toothpaste $2.99 (Used $2.25 CVS coupon from Red Instant Coupon Machine AND $1 Colgate printable – no longer available)
1 Edge Shave Gel $3.49 (Used $1 Edge coupon)
Used $20 in ECB from previous weeks
Paid $1.88 plus tax, Got $5 ECB from Jergens, $2 ECB from Edge, $4 ECB from Jif and $3 Glade from Checkout 51
Final Price: $7.88
Walgreens
1 Mountain Dew Kickstart $1
1 AZO Urinary Tract Infection Tablets $10
1 Ecotrin Aspirin $3 (Used $1 from 2/2 SS)
3 Wrigley’s Extra Gum 3/$2 (Used 3 $.50 Extra printables – no longer available)
1 Walgreens Hydrogen Peroxide $.33 w/in-ad coupon
1 Culturelle Kids Probiotic $10
4 Wet ‘N Wild Polish $.99 each (Used 4 $1 from 1/26 SS – reduced to $3.96)
Used Walgreens Winter Event coupon pg 10 (get 50 points for every $1 on participating products)
Used 3 $6 Register Rewards from last week ($18)
Paid $5.78 plus tax, Got $10 RR from AZO, $10 RR from Culturelle, $1 RR from Mountain Dew, 2,000 points from Ecotrin and 150 points from Wet ‘N Wild (Beauty Event Bonus)
Final Price: $.63
After all was said and done, I spent a total of $8.51 (most of that being my five cheap jars of Jif) My plan now is to go back to Walgreens and buy another Cuturelle with the AZO RR and continue to roll those into each other, as I’d like to stock up on the kids probiotics. I hope this gives you some ideas of what you can do! Happy Shopping!
