Mako Mermaids – An H2O Adventure Season 1: Island of Secrets has just been released on DVD! I wasn’t familiar with this series, which is the sequel to H2O: Just Add Water. This show appears to be geared towards tweens, so when I got the chance to preview it, I got my 5-year old (who acts like she’s 16) and my 8-year old son to join me. This show is clean fun. There is some talk of boyfriends/girlfriends, but this show is just about as innocent as a viewing of the Little Mermaid with less music and a little less depth. That being said, the mermaids are pretty and there is a storyline. My daughter sat transfixed through the entire show (several episodes) and my son told me to report that the show was summed up in the word “weird.” All in all, if your child likes mermaids, they’ll enjoy this little tale about a tail. (Yep, I totally went there)
