Throwing a barbecue can be a little daunting. How much food do you provide? Will it rain? Will you have something that everyone will eat? If you have a vegetarian at your attending, you have to be that much more prepared. Dr. Praeger’s challenged me to throw a vegetarian barbecue to see how everyone would react. It went well!
I had some family and friends over for a small get together to try out a bunch of different Dr. Praeger’s products. We had the California Veggie Burgers, Tex Mex Veggie Burgers, Meatless All American Burgers and Chickenless Patties. We did a little grilling (from frozen) and flipped them over in the middle. Then, everyone got to sample everything!
I loved the Chickenless Patties and the Meatless All American Burgers. In my opinion, these are specifically aimed at people who are looking for replacement meat products. They have great texture and taste quite a bit like less greasy burgers and chicken patties. My daughter made me promise that I would start buying them regularly – and I will!
The California Veggie Burgers were favored by those people who aren’t looking for meat replacement, just hoping for a fulfilling meal. These are flavorful and tasty, but we all agreed that they rocked when eaten with Open Pit barbecue sauce.
The least favorite of the bunch was the Tex Mex Veggie Burgers. They were a little dry. They are seasoned well, but even though they were cooked the same way as the others, there was very little moisture left in the patty.
I plan to start keeping the Chickenless Patties and All American Burgers on hand regularly and I highly recommend them as well. If you are having a barbecue, grab a few boxes of Dr. Praeger’s for your veggie friends!
