I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to mention this.
Okay, so it’s not THAT serious, but I feel a little bad.
I realized my error this evening at Walgreens. After putting the little one to bed and before putting the bigger one to bed, I snuck out to Wags. I had wanted to get there all day to take advantage of the $5 RR on a $25 purchase, but hadn’t made it. I went earlier this week, but there was more stuff I wanted to get, so I wanted to get back there.
I got
2 Huggies Wipes 3.59 each
2 Spongebob Bandaids (it was that or Barbie!) $3.99 each
1 Conair Brush $2.99
2 Glade Soy Candles $3.49 each
1 3Musketeers bar (for my husband)
I used
2 $.50 Huggies Wipes coupons
1 $2 Huggies Activity Book coupon ($4 came off)
2 $.50 Bandaid coupons
1 $2 Bandaid Activity Book coupon ($4 came off)
2 Free Glade Soy Candle coupons (from 8/2SS – did you see these??)
A $2 RR from earlier in the week
A $5 RR from my last $5 for $25 transaction
I paid $2.95 and got $6 RR back (2 for the brush, $4 for the Bandaids)
Not bad because I actually use all of this (except the candles, which I bought to bump up my total), BUT I was expecting another $5 RR because my total was over $25. Of course, I realized my error the second I received my receipt.
At Walgreens you cannot use a RR to buy a product for which you received the RR from buying. So if you buy a pen for $1 and get $1 RR, you cannot buy another pen with that RR and expect to get another $1 RR. You cannot roll RR’s at Walgreens.
At CVS or grocery stores that give CAT’s this isn’t an issue. It seems to only be a Wags thing.
So basically, don’t go shopping in a rush! And don’t let yourself get shaken up.
While I was checking out, another customer fell on the floor and appeared to have either hit her head or be having a dizzy spell. There was some chaos, but she said she was okay while we all tried to help. We then continued my transaction, a bit shaken and confused about what had just happened. So I’m not going to be too hard on myself for my error. All logical thought kind of flew out of my head.
And while we’re on the Wags train, let me mention one more thing. You can only use as many manufacturer’s coupons as you have products. RR are manufacturer’s coupons, so they apply here. If you have 7 products, you can use 7 manufacturer’s coupons. If the scenario you came up with involves using both coupons and RR, you may have to grab something cheap in order to use that RR.
Most of the scenario’s we do as Couponers involve matching coupons to get stuff for free. There are often times where you won’t have anything to purchase without a coupon match. Check the clearance aisle, the candy aisle, grab a piece of chocolate for $.33, but you may have to pick up something in order to use that RR. In my case, I picked up the 3Musketeers bar for my husband.
Wags can be a little tricky. Keep these things in mind when you are working with RR.
