My father has been a country music fan since I was a little girl. I never quite understood it when I was younger becasuse I hadn't had the same life experiences, but I always knew that it was one of my dad's "things." As I got older, he would call me and say, "Okay, you've gotta listen to this song the next time it comes on the radio" or "Let's sit in the car for another few minutes so I can play you the tape of this song." As I went from the cool Debbie Gibson-loving little girl that I was into the land of actual musical storytelling as I got older, the songs started to really mean something to me! I had favorites and my father and I would dedicate different songs to people we loved.
Just last week, my dad told me to Google Brad Paisley's song "Letter To Me." (Yes, now we are modern and no longer using tapes. ;)) I watched the Youtube video and listened as tears rolled down my face. If you've never heard it, go Google after you finish reading this!
