Fine Print: I was given a prize pack for review and Crest is giving another to a reader. All opinions and statements below are my own.
I think it’s safe to say that the entire United States has been in crazy-town when it comes to the weather we’ve experienced the last five months. Being in Chicago, I can honestly tell you that my kids were in their winter coats one day last week and two days later we were all in shorts. I’m still waiting for actual spring weather to hit! That being said, whether we see warm temperatures or cold ones, we still have to get into spring cleaning mode. Time to change up the routine and clean out the house (please donate!!) to get a fresh start this summer.
I hadn’t really thought about it before reading this statistic, but maybe it’s time to not only do spring cleaning through our closets, but do a little cleaning through our dental care! Here’s what I mean:
One in two Americans are suffering from gingivitis and many don’t even know it! When used together, the Crest Pro-Health Clinical Line (toothpaste, toothbrush, floss, and rinse) helps to reduce gingivitis for a healthier mouth in only 1 week. A healthy mouth is an important part of a healthy body, so this spring, your readers can reinvigorate their oral care routine and amp up their overall wellness plan by stocking their medicine cabinet with products that will make both their mouth and whole body happy.
I recently had the opportunity to try out the line of Crest Pro-Health toothpastes, rinse and toothbrush. After using them all for a few days, my mouth does feel clean. I’m pleased with the toothpastes (they left my mouth feeling minty fresh), but the toothbrush…. Oh. My. Goodness. I am not being dramatic when I say that I think it may have changed my oral-care life!
I got to try the Oral-B Pro-Health Clinical Pro-Flex Toothbrush for this review. This is my first time trying it, but I use a manual toothbrush daily, so I didn’t expect anything huge – just a regular brushing. Not the case at all. I think we all experience problem spots in our mouths due to the way our teeth are uniquely shaped, and one of mine is behind my front two teeth. I brush side to side and up and down, but I never quite feel like I’m getting them as clean as I know they are after being at the dentist. And it drives me a little crazy. The Oral-B Pro-Health Clinical Pro-Flex Toothbrush has a larger brush head than you’re used to (to account for the “flex), but it is actually flexible so that it moves a bit to follow the shape of your teeth. Sitting here right now, every single one of my teeth feels like I’ve just been to the dentist for a cleaning – including the backs of my front teeth. They are that clean. I honestly don’t think I can ever go back! This is the toothbrush of my dreams (and I didn’t even know I’d been dreaming about finding one!)
I’m not 100% crazy about the Crest Pro-Health Rinse only because I like something with a little more body and mint in my rinse. This was perfectly fine and it did the job, but I never felt as “minty fresh” as I wanted to. Perhaps that’s not the purpose of this rinse, and I’m aware of that, but it is the one piece that I wasn’t as jazzed about.
Dr. Travis Stork, host of the Emmy Award-winning TV show, The Doctors, and practicing ER doctor, has shared a bunch of tips and tricks to spring clean our health and oral health this season, so I’m going to share them with you:
- Enjoy Being Active: Finding an activity you enjoy is key to incorporating regular physical fitness into your life. Being active shouldn’t feel like work, so choose something you enjoy!
- Clean Up Your Oral Care: A healthy mouth is an important part of a healthy body. One in two American adults has gingivitis, and many don’t even know it, but this gum issue is not only preventable but reversible. Invest in oral care products like the Crest Pro-Health Clinical Line which help provide advanced protection against the plaque that can cause gingivitis.
- Healthy Snacks: It’s always a good idea to carry healthy snacks with you. My go-to healthy snack is nuts. Nuts are packed with heart-healthy fats and protein, and are an easy option when you’re traveling. If you are allergic to nuts, there are other great snack options like Greek yogurt with berries, hard boiled eggs or veggies dipped in hummus.
- Ask Questions: Don’t be afraid to be proactive and check with your health care team about steps you can take to be healthier in 2014. Your health care provider can recommend lifestyle changes to help you address any areas of concern.
- Small Steps Can Lead to Big Changes: Small changes can make a big impact on your health. For example, making a healthy swap like fruit-infused seltzer water in place of soda or taking a 30 minute walk every day will help improve your health, one step at a time.
- The Time Is Now: Chronic illness starts its progression in your younger years. Heart disease can develop before we even realize it. That’s why it is important to start making healthy choices now – like eating whole grains in place of refined carbohydrates – when you’re young. The health decisions you make in your 20’s and 30’s impact your health in your 40’s and well beyond.
To get everyone in the mood for spring cleaning, I am giving one lucky winner a Crest Pro-Health Oral Care Prize Pack!
