If you’re in the Chicagoland area, I wanted to make sure that you saw that GoldStar had “Big Fish” the musical tickets on sale for as low as $28!! I saw it a few weeks ago (and paid full price – theater is the only thing I am okay with paying full price for if I have to!) and if you can get tickets at this price, you really really should. If you are familiar with the movie, you’ll dig a lot of the special effects that they have incorporated. If you’ve never seen the movie, you’ll find it fascinating!
I am a huge theater geek, so here’s my take: The first half is enjoyable. This is the preview, so they are still tinkering with the show and you can tell. The effects were awesome. For example (I don’t want to ruin things for you, but I’ll give you one), daffodils actually bloom out of the stage. It’s fantastic! During intermission we discussed how there were a few areas they needed to work on and then settled back into the show. The second half had me bawling. I was so moved and so touched by everything, I wouldn’t change a note.
And for those of you who are as geeky as me, you’ll just be thrilled to see Norbert Leo Butz perform, as he was the original Fiyero in Wicked!
