Have you ever been to Bonefish Grill? I was there a LONG time ago while my husband and I were dating, but it’s been years (I’m old. ;)). It is a favorite of both my grandmother and my mother, but we never seem to make it over there. Well, that is all about to change!
I recently had the opportunity to visit the Bonefish Grill location in Schaumburg, Il (although, there are many! Find one near you). I was there for a Taste The Notes promotion, which focused on pairing their wine varieties with their food. The food was fantastic and I got quite the education in wine. I tend to be a white wine drinker (you have to try their Moscato!), but I tried three of their reds as well – one even paired with the dessert that I’ll talk about in a minute. The biggest lesson that I learned is that wine industry is doing away with the idea of white wine for fish and chicken and red wine for meat. People are beginning to go with preferring a white or a red in general, and making that work for whatever you are eating is the new challenge.
Over the course of the evening at Bonefish Grill we had several appetizers to sample, but the standout was most definitely the Bang Bang Shrimp. It is breaded, flavorful deliciousness with a kick. I could have eaten that as my meal!
The Bonefish Grill burgers are amazing and the Fresh Diver Scallops were to die for. I’ve honestly never had a scallop this good, and I’m a Chicagoan! I know my food. To top off the evening, we got to have their play on Peanut Butter and Jelly – Bread Pudding with Peanut Butter Ice Cream and Raspberry Sauce – absolutely delicious.
I thought the dinner was a huge success and I only have wonderful memories. In the car on the ride home, my mother (my fabulous guest to the event) and I talked about how it was difficult to rank the dishes unless you started on a range from fantastic to very good. There wasn’t one dish that would have fallen below it. That being the case, I’ll be taking my husband there soon!
Have you been to Bonefish Grill? I’d love to hear what you think!
