I hope that you guys know how much I love writing this blog. I work very hard and take great pride in what I do. I consider it my job and love coming to work everyday. I have made some great friends and truly love finding deals and chatting with you on Facebook.
Over the last few days, I have gotten several emails from large affiliate programs that I belong to stating that Illinois is passing a bill that could be detrimental to my site and every other site owner in Illinois. This bill states that any sale originating from an affiliate link will result in having to pay a 6.25% tax. For example, if you buy something from my site through an affiliate link (Crocs, Amazon, etc), you will be charged tax. Since Amazon and other sites do not want to charge you additional tax, they have informed blog owners that they will be dropping us from their program. Here is an article about it.
I have many friends who are blog owners in Illinois and all of us will be hit very hard. I write this site as I would want to read it. I try to find the best deals that I can and only post the deals that I would do myself of do do myself. I also make an income from my affiliate links along the way. It costs you nothing to click through and it enables me to dedicate my time to the site instead of having to find another way to make an income.
I do not want to give up this site. If you are an Illinois resident, please take a minute to contact Govorner Quinn asking him not to sign the already passed Senate Amendment 3 to HB 3659. Please express that you oppose it. I would be so very grateful, as would many of the other blogs that you probably read.
