Upromise by Sallie Mae is launching its “March to a Billion” college saving initiative with the collective goal of helping families save $1 billion by 2013. To encourage both prospective and existing Upromise members to join the “March,” the initiative asks families to take the “Make the Pledge, Keep the Promise” pledge to save for college and offers an extra benefit – the chance for one lucky entrant to win a $150,000 grand prize scholarship to pay for college! In addition to the $150,000 grand prize scholarship, members will have a chance to win one of five $500 gift cards that will be given away in the eight weeks leading up to the grand prize drawing.
On October 4, John Ward Senior, Vice President Upromise by Sallie Mae, and Academy Award Winning Actress Mira Sorvino attended the “Make the Pledge, Keep the Promise” College Savings Luncheon, held at the Benjamin Hotel in New York City.
