I recently had the opportunity to try the California Veggie Burger. I found them at my local Trader Joe’s and made them for dinner. When I first took them out of the wrapper, I was a little unsure. They are green with hints of orange and red. While I love the idea of a veggie burger, this was a VEGGIE burger. The ingredients list is as follows: Carrots, Onions, String Beans, Oat Bran, Soybeans, Zucchini, Peas, Broccoli, Corn, Soy Flakes, Spinach, Expeller Pressed Canola Oil, Red Peppers, Arrowroot, Corn Starch, Garlic, Corn Meal, Salt, Parsley, Black Pepper.
I broiled up a few patties for both my husband and myself and put a slice of cheese on mine. After the first bite, I was convinced. These really are delicious! After browning both sides of the patty in the broiler (as per the instructions), the consistency is firm and the flavor satisfying. My husband agreed wholeheartedly and even added that he thought these were head’s above a popular competitor brand. We’ll definitely be keeping a space for these in the freezer.
Since Dr. Praeger’s makes Veggie Chicken and Appetizer options, I’ll be on the hunt for those for my kids. This would be an unbelievably easy way to make sure that my kids are eating healthy and that they are enjoying what they eat.
