I love the Oscars. I have watched the Oscars for as long as I can remember and always make a big deal about it. We order food, watch the red carpet and then the Oscars. I usually have to Tivo the second half so that I can get the kids ready for bed, but I always watch the entire thing eventually.
When I was younger, single and childless, I used to go to the movies at least once a week. It was my favorite hobby. I’d go with people or by myself – I never minded either way. And every once in awhile I’d have what I’d call the “Ebert Experience” when you’re the only one in the theater. Of course, that usually means you’re about to see a movie that isn’t all that great, but it’s cool nonetheless. Now I don’t have the same kind of time, so I see as many movies as I can when I can.
When Redbox recently invited me to have an Oscar viewing party, I jumped at the chance! With some Orville Redenbacher popped and decorations in place, my little party watched The Kids Are Alright and The Social Network. I had been wanting to see both, but never made it to the theater. I absolutely loved The Social Network (which surprised me) and really enjoyed The Kids Are Alright. Of course, I’ve been a Mark Ruffalo fan since seeing him in You Can Count On Me, so the movie already had me at Mark Ruffalo. Today we’ll watch How To Train Your Dragon with the kids and tomorrow’s Oscar Party will be decked out! I’ll post some pictures from that on the Couponing For 4 Facebook page afterward.
