10 Excellent Alternative Uses For Coca-Cola

10-Excellent-Alternative-Uses-For-Coca-Cola Stay calm and have a Coke! Coca-Cola is one of the most popular brands of pop in the world. Studies have shown that more people use the word Coke than they do the word hello! Isn’t that nuts? And it also means that most people in the world probably have some Coca-Cola with them or at least handy at all times. This is great for all the frugal shoppers out there because whenever you have a little leftover, there are some excellent alternative uses that you can try!

  1. Use it as toilet bowl cleaner – You don’t need to worry about buying bathroom cleaner anymore. A can of Coke can make your toilet sparkling clean in an hour or less. Simply pour a can in the toilet, spread it around a bit and scrub it with a toilet brush an hour later.
  2. Wash your windows with it – Coca-Cola has citric acid in it. This acid makes a perfect cleaning solution for almost anything – including your windows! It works much the same way as other window cleaners. Put a little on a rag or paper towel and wash away all the dirt.
  3. Kill those pesky insects – Not only can you help get rid of summer ants in your home, but Coke will actually help to eliminate most  bugs you can think of. Whether you have spiders, bees, ants, or flies, you can eliminate them by leaving a can/cup of Coke for them to drink. They are attracted to the pop and will likely drown in the cup. If you have ant hills in your yard, pour some Coke in the hill and you won’t have that issue any longer.
  4. Change your hair color – If you want your hair a couple shades lighter than your current hair color – or you dyed your hair too dark by accident – you can use Coke to make it lighter. Dump a can of Coca-Cola on your hair and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Rinse and you’ll find that the Coke actually stripped some of the color away.
  5. Defrost your windshield – Did you know that you could defrost your windshield in the winter without even starting your car? If you are in a hurry and can’t wait for your car to heat all the way up, spread some pop on your windshield! It will quickly help to defrost the ice and you can scrape it away.
  6. Enjoy a science project with your kids – If you have a 2-liter of Diet Coke, you can always enjoy a fun science project with your kids! Keep that summer learning loss to a minimum by adding a few Mentos to your bottle. Take guesses (or make a hypothesis) on what will happen when you do and watch a fun magic fountain.
  7. Make your coins shiny – Whether you are an avid coin collector or just want to show your kids a cool trick, get out a cup of Coke and drop your pennies, nickels, and dimes in. Let them soak for a few minutes. When you remove them, they will be as shiny as they were when they were new!
  8. Use Coke on blood stains – Not many other solutions can get blood out of clothes, shoes, or other cloth items. If you’ve taken a major spill or just have the results of bloody nose to clean up, you can use Coke to get blood stains out. Mix Coke with your regular detergent to pre-treat and throw it in the wash for your best results.
  9. Clean corroded batteries – The corrosion on a battery can sometimes cause your vehicle to be left for dead. Surprisingly, you can actually use a can of Coke to eat away at the corrosion! Sometimes this can get you where you need to be and prolong the life of your battery. It’s worth a shot – a can of Coke costs a lot less than a new battery!
  10. Create pieces of artwork – Coke is great for cleaning and having fun with, but it can also be a creative tool. If you like vintage photography but don’t know how to make it, you can use Coke! Simply dip a photo or piece of paper into the pop for one second and let it dry. You will have a creative piece of vintage artwork on your hands! If you want to control the amount of Coke a little more, use a spray bottle and douse your paper/photo for different aged results. Do this with kids for a fun craft as well.

Have you used Coca-Cola for any of these things? What other fun ways have you used Coke? I’d love to know!
