If you are not familiar with Beasts of the Southern Wild, I really hope that you will be soon! This film is one that I watched last week, but have been struggling to find the right words to tell you about it. It is powerful. It is emotional. It is all-encompassing when you’re viewing. It is penetrating. It is magnetic. It is eye-opening. It is one of the best films I think I’ve ever seen and I cannot get it out of my head. It is fabulous.
Very generally, this is a story of 6-year old Hushpuppy (played by Quvenzhané Wallis, who deserves an Oscar) and her father, Wink, in the bayou of Louisiana. They struggle with their surroundings, Wink’s health and Hushpuppy questions the whereabouts of her mother. That is all I am going to tell you so that I don’t ruin what truly is a cinematic experience. Please take my word for it and see this fantastic film.
To celebrate the much-anticipated release of Beasts of the Southern Wild to Blu-ray/DVD (December 4th) there is a new digital flip book available full of wise and intriguing words from the film’s leading character, Hushpuppy.
This interactive digital flip book utilizes colorful scene stills and inspirational quotes from the film. In addition to the photos and text, once the quote is hovered over, the sound byte of Hushpuppy saying the quote will be heard.
