It wouldn’t be winter if you didn’t have Gingerbread Cookies! This recipe is easy to make and it’s something that you can bake with the kids – letting them decorate at the end! With a little cinnamon, ginger, molasses and clove, your home is about to smell wonderful!
Ingredients:
3 cups all purpose flour
1 Tbsp ground ginger
2 1/4 Tbsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cloves
Pinch salt
6 Tbsp softened butter
3/4 brown sugar
1/2 cup molasses
1 Tbsp vanilla extract
1 egg
Betty Crocker white icing with a small plastic pointed tip (link for reference)
Small candy eyes
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large mixing bowl, mix together your softened butter and brown sugar. Next, add in your molasses, vanilla, and egg and mix well. Now mix in your flour, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. Mix until your cookie dough is combined thoroughly.
Roll your dough out on a floured piece of parchment paper and use a gingerbread man cookie cutter to cut out your shapes. Place your gingerbread men on the parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and let them cool. Use your white icing to draw on your gingerbread man design. Lastly, dip the back of your candy eyes in the white icing and onto the head of each gingerbread man. This recipe made 12 gingerbread men, but that was with the large cookie cutter. If you want to make more, either double the recipe or use a smaller cookie cutter to stretch it further.
