These adorable Dino Egg Cookies are not actually created by dinosaurs, they’re created by you in the kitchen! Use your imagination to make this cute dessert or make it an activity at a child’s birthday party and let each kid decorate their own!
Ingredients:
3/4 cup softened salted butter
3/4 cup sugar
2 tsp almond extract
1 egg
2 1/4 cup all purpose flour
White icing
Jumbo M&M’s
Regular M&M’s
Mini M&M’s
Egg shaped cookie cutter also needed
Preheat your oven to 325 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large mixing bowl, beat your butter and sugar together with a hand or stand mixer. Add in your almond extract and egg and mix quickly. Now mix in your flour until the mixture looks crumbly. Remove the mixture and knead the dough in your hands until it starts sticking together.
Lay down a piece of parchment paper onto the table, flour a rolling pin, and roll your dough out flat. Use an egg shaped cookie cutter to cut out your eggs and transfer them to your baking sheet. Bake your cookies for 10 minutes. Remove them from the oven, let them cool and then transfer them to a wire rack. When your cookies have cooled (and this is the part where I’d invite the kids to help), frost them with your white icing. Now press on different colors/sizes of your M&M’s to make the coolest dino eggs that you can!
