Who is ready for the Oscars??? I have been a huge Oscars fan for as long as I can remember. I love theater, I love movies and I love everything that has to do with the process of movie making. And if we ever sat down to have a real discussion about any of the above, you’ll find that I have very strong positions about some movies! (That being said, Han shot first!)
To celebrate the Oscars this year, Wholly Guacamole and Daily’s Cocktails gave me the opportunity to have a pre-Oscar party with some friends! We had a blast! First we rallied around our delicious Wholly Guacamole, Salsa and chips and chowed down. If I were on a desert island and I could only pick a certain number of foods to bring, Wholly Guac would likely be on that list. I LOVE this stuff!
Next we broke out the Daily’s Cocktails. I am not generally a huge drinker and had never tried Daily’s before, but from the moment I spotted them in the store on the shelf, I’d been dying to find out how they tasted. My girls and I began the evening by being ladylike and actually pouring our frozen beverages in glasses, but in about 10 minutes, we were all using spoons to taste each other’s drinks. Then we busted out a few additional flavors and “ate” them right out of the pouch. Surprisingly easy with a spoon!
Our evening got off to even more fun when we put on the Oscar nominated movie Bridesmaids. We had our food, drinks and some majorly funny moments. In my opinion, Bridesmaids is the perfect movie for some let-loose girlfriend entertainment with a frozen cocktail and delicious appetizers. We had a so much fun! The men were upstairs taking care of the collective children, so we had to stop the movie a few times as the kids made a break for it and came downstairs. That actually added to the humor of the whole thing! Can you imagine?? The kids are running into the room with the movie and you’re jumping up, grabbing for the remote (and getting the wrong one at first) while talking loudly and moving your body in front of the screen so that they kids don’t see or hear anything? So funny.
In the end, we loved the movie, loved the guac and all independently said that we’d now be keeping Daily’s in our freezers for when one might be needed! They were delicious. There honestly wasn’t one that I didn’t like, although I did have my favorites (and I think we all felt the same way). I was a huge fan of the Frozen Lemonade, Strawberry Daiquiri and Peach Daiquiri. Other people liked those, but loved the Lime Margarita and the Pomegranate Acai Margarita. There was a complete consensus that we all REALLY enjoyed them. They are tasty and have only a mild alcoholic flavor. It’s like drinking an adult slushee. Yum!
The only item on the list that I don’t think anyone cared for was the Red Pepper and Mango Salsa. There was an oddly sweet aftertaste that mostly everyone commented on. But all of the guacamole (spicy, Homestyle and Original) as well as the other salsas were awesome. I would buy them all again.
