Unclaimed.org is a site that is set up for you to search by state. First, click the name of your state to see what programs are available. In Illinois, we have Cash Dash. Search your name and see what comes up! You will get results for under $10, between $10-$100 or over $100. They will let you know what paperwork you need to submit in order to prove your identity, but it really is worth it! A few years ago I got two checks that were owed to me from my years in college. I just checked again (I try to remember once per year) and found something else waiting from an old address! Make sure to check ALL cities that you’ve lived in, as moving is how they may have lost you to send you the money.
Even if you don’t think you are owed money, it’s worth a search! Search your family members and friends as well! They WANT to get this money to you and you want to claim it! Who can’t use free money and there are absolutely no strings attached!!
